Giants Need to Break Out the Ugly Stick Against Rams

NEW YORK – It doesn’t matter how the Giants win tonight against the Rams, they just have to win. All that matters is that they avoid the dreaded 0-2 start and build some confidence going into their second divisional battle next Sunday against the Eagles. I’m not advocating any dirty play by Big Blue mind you, I am simply saying they need to man handle those guys and take the victory. I have already said that I believe the team needs to win every game from here on out leading up to the bye week (week seven). If the Giants lose tonight, things are going to get very interesting in New York.

The Giants are still dealing with a ton of injuries and will need the younger players to step up. This is your wake up call, you are an NFL player now and the team needs you. I believe the team has enough talent to win this game but there a few factors that need to come together. First, the special teams group needs to play better. They need to play like their jobs are on the line because they should be at this point. Second, the offensive play calling needs to be more aggressive and less predictable. Third, QB Eli Manning needs to get out of the funk he has been in since the preseason and get back to the player we all know he can be. I’m beginning to wonder if he is getting enough rest at home after having his first child. He seems sluggish and unfocused at times out there. If the three factors I’ve mentioned here can come together, I think the Giants will win the game tonight and get back on the right track for the season.

I recommend that all Giants fans watch this game tonight. I’m sure I do not need to tell the “true blue” fans that but there is an extra incentive for fans to check it out. The Giants will be honoring the 25th anniversary of the 1986 New York Giants Championship team that won Super Bowl XXI. That 86′ team is widely considered one of the best NFL teams ever. It is without question a top three all-time team and some may argue they are number one overall. The Giants will have a special halftime ceremony to honor the players and fans can even grab an autograph if they attend the game. Former Giants players will be located at all four entrances and available for autographs from 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM EST. Be prepared for long lines and additional security measures.

The game itself starts at 8:30 PM EST and the weather is expected to be clear and around 60 degrees. If you have kids, you might want to bring a jacket for them (and yourself) if you plan on attending the game. My final score prediction is Giants 27 – Rams 21.

it would be awesome,if the giants could summon back those defensive ghosts from 1986 tonight.i feel very fortunate myself to have been a giants fan long enough to have experienced that great team.and i do stick with my prediction of a rare new york giant high scoring win.35-14.and i think the giants will make that all important 5-2 1st half of the season record.reason being, that after sundays games, the g-men are not the only ones with a mash unit on there hands.it will be important to mend quick and before the teams we play coming up.i would love for the g-men and there opponents to both be healthy when they play, because then there are no excuses.not that the g-men ever make excuses.unfortunately thats not the case with all the injuries big blue has endured, and with the mike vick injury last night,i do believe it opens things up in our division and now is the time for the g-men to start playing good sound football no matter who we have on the field.it either starts or ends tonight.i think it starts.

Hey Bobby, I would love to get that old school vibe back tonight. It would be a huge embarrassment to lose this game at home tonight during their 25 year anniversary celebration. I don’t think the payers will allow that to happen, there is too much riding on this game. We are only hours away now buddy, time to grab some food and get ready for the game! Go Giants! Enjoy the game.

well it did look ugly, but i will take it.im wrecked right now because im up at 530 am,but i did not want to go to sleep and wake up with a loss lol.great that the g-men did not let down the fans on a great night honoring the 86 team.unbelievable catches last night and a huge win.looking forward to your post game article.this is one the g-men could not have gotten away from them, especially since the rams were a touchdown from making it a nervous wreck game down the stretch.big blue needs much work, but its better to fix as you win.im afraid to see this weeks injury report.the defense gave up some huge yardage, but played much better then last week.and im glad the giants made dramatic improvements, although they still need lots of work.but the win is a big spoon of medicine the g-men needed on an electric night.

it was just how we thought it would go buddy. An ugly win with a lot of sloppy play. I do think it was an improvement from the Redskins game but still none the less ugly. When I heard that Manningham and Hixon were both hurt, I almost got sick. These injuries have become the thing of legend at this point. It has me extremely concerned, there is no way on God’s green earth that the Giants can make it back to the playoffs fielding so many 2nd string players. I hope things get better and we get some players back healthy soon. Still, a win is a win and I thought the team finished stronger then usual.
