NEW YORK – On behalf of the nygreporter, I would like to say Congrats to New York Giants WR Victor Cruz on winning the Top Value Performer Award given by Vizio and voted on by the fans. I am happy that I have followed his career from training camp back in 2010 in Albany. You knew you were looking at a good football player. He was catching everything thrown to him and had worked out during the lockout with QB Eli Manning in Hoboken. Which was nothing for Cruz who grew up in Paterson, so he is very familiar with Hudson County New Jersey. So Cruz hung out with Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning and played catch on a high school field. Cruz is a star now in the New York and New Jersey areas. The well mannered and friendly ‘Salsa King’ is a good face for New York football and all of the local kids who hope to play for the Giants one day. Expect to see a lot more of him.
How about the job Giants GM Jerry Reese did with this young man? There are three players that need to get paid next year and they are WR Victor Cruz, DE Jason Pierre-Paul and DE Osi Umenyiora. I’m convinced Osi needs to finish his career with the Giants and be signed for a long term contract. The same goes for Victor Cruz who deserves a five year deal in my opinion. I would like to say good luck to Victor and the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLVI. The fans are behind you guys hunting those rings. I’m all in!
The Super Bowl is now only 8 days away and the Pro Bowl is tomorrow 1/29/12 at 7:00 PM EST. Enjoy the game NFL fans!
What are your thoughts on Victor Cruz and the incredible season he continues to have?

NEW YORK – Hello Giants fans, that was a tough loss against the Packers last night. I knew it would be a close game but I really thought the Giants were going to win. The undefeated Packers continue rolling and deserve the victory. The reason I gave that side note of Monday Big Blues in the article title is obvious. With only four games left in the season, the G-men need to do everything in their power to win all four of those games. If they fail to do so, they will be swimming in the blues until next year.
The playoffs are right around the corner and the Giants fans need their postseason fix after missing the past two years. Do I think it’s possible? Absolutely. The Giants need to get some players healthy on defense to get really busy on the field. Now we learn that S Kenny Phillips was injured in Sundays game and it only gets worse. In my honest opinion, the Giants are lucky to have the record they own with all of these injuries. It is a testament to the depth on the New York squad but still, a 6-6 record is nothing to cheer about.
DAC Fact
Yes, the Giants lost to the undefeated Green Bay Packers (12-0) and it looks like QB Aaron Rodgers is a sure thing to win the NFL MVP for 2011. He has been playing on another level this year and breaking records. Which got me thinking, how many New York Giants players have won the NFL MVP? Do you think you know the answer? This isn’t trivia, it is simply stating Giants facts. The answer is five.
Let’s take a look at the five Giants who earned NFL MVP honors.
1. Mel Hein – 1938 NFL MVP
2. Frank Gifford – 1956 NFL MVP
3. Charlie Conerly – 1959 NFL MVP
4. Y.A. Tittle – 1963 NFL MVP
5. Lawrence Taylor – 1986 NFL MVP
Who do you think will end up as the next Giants NFL MVP? Is he on this team?

NEW YORK – After 75 days of the NFL lockout nonsense, football fans finally got some good news. The New York Giants have announced the 10 lucky winners of their recent fan contest. The 10 winners (over 1,300 entries were received) will have their image placed on a home game ticket for a real Giants game. On behalf of nygreporter.com, I would like to say congratulations to the lucky winners and true blue Giants fans who shared their stories.
The 10 winners will go to the Timex Performance Center in early June for a photo shoot and also get a tour of the billion dollar New Meadowlands stadium (it still has that brand new stadium scent). They also get two free tickets to the regular or preseason game where their photo’s adorn the game tickets. The top 20 fans (top 20 by fan voting) were considered finalists for this contest and the 10 who did not win the big prize will get a $200 gift certificate to purchase Giants merchandise from the Giants store. I still think that is a great prize in itself to be honest. I have to applaud the Giants organization for getting creative during this lull in football news and activities. Now we only have to wonder if there will be a 2011 NFL season for the fans to enjoy (this has to be the most used phrase in all of 2011 sports).
Message to the kids who entered the contest: Remember kids, if you were one of the fans that missed out this time, it does not mean that you are not a Giants Super fan. There were over 1,300 people who entered the contest and the team had to pick the winners based on all the fan votes they got. Keep your heads up and give it another try when a different contest comes along. How about this for a consolation prize, Fleet Week has arrived in New York. Maybe you can go and check out some of the cool Navy ships and aircraft that will be in town for the next few days. They were going up and down the Hudson river today to kick it off. Check it out over the weekend. God bless and protect our military all over the world!
Here are the 10 New York Giants fans who won.
1. Hilary Stolz
2. Ed Magenheimer
3. Adam Mihan
4. Monique Titus
5. Paula Crowe
6. Adrian Gennusa
7. George Svirsky
8. Brian Revfi
9. Tina Lester
10. William Bradley
It’s like the old saying goes, you have to be in it to win it. Well done Giants fans!

NEW YORK – Tons of anxious fans will be hoping to win the New York Giants fan contest that ends next week. Voting for the contest began today after the team received all of the entries sent in by fans. The Giants are not accepting any more entries but instead have begun the voting process by fans. I’m very excited to see who the final 10 winners will be on May 24, 2011. Please remember fans that the contest ends on May 24, 2011 at 5:00 PM EST. The 10 winners will be announced sometime later that night on Giants.com and facebook. Anyone interested in reading some wonderful fan stories and seeing some very unique photo’s of Giants fans are encouraged to check out the Giants facebook page at the following link http://on.fb.me/msbHyP and vote!
There are so many interesting stories to read that I think you will be surprised. This contest really knocks out two birds with one stone. First, they provide an incredibly unique opportunity for true blue fans to win something you literally cannot buy with money anywhere. You must win the votes in order to have your photo adorning a New York Giants home game ticket. The second thing this contest does is give true fans the chance to read some of the most interesting stories I have ever heard and to see some of the craziest photo’s I’ve ever seen. All of this of course is done with class and with good intentions. The Giants are a classy organization and would not allow anything to be out of line. They understand that a lot of their fans are kids and try to keep everything as family friendly as possible, just like we do here at nygreporter.com.
Will you be voting for the top 10 winners on facebook for the Giants ticket contest? Are you a Giants fan who has already entered the contest yourself? Let us know what you think. We will also be listing the top 10 winners here on our site for all to see. I want to wish everyone luck and remember that you are still a winner even if your entry isn’t chosen. You’re a winner simply because you are a New York Giants fan!
Once again, the contest ends on May 24, 2011 at 5:00 PM EST. Facebook.com/NewYorkGiants or http://on.fb.me/msbHyP
