NEW YORK – The New York Giants can feel the draft creeping up on them. I cannot believe it is almost time for the 2012 NFL draft to kick off. In just about two weeks, fans will know who their first round pick will be. I have even heard some suggest the Giants trade away this years first round pick, for a first round pick next year and a second rounder this year, then work the two second round picks. I don’t know about this strategy because GM Jerry Reese usually keeps all of his draft picks. The Giants are very good at the draft and have had a tremendous draft record the past decade.
The best possible example of Jerry Reese taking the best player available is CB Prince Amukamara. Nobody, including myself, thought Prince would still be on the board at the Giants pick that year but he was. There is nothing you can do in a situation like that but take the guy. So this is always a very good possibility and it will not be a surprise to you, if you take your notes and follow it LIVE on the computer and TV. You’ve alread seen the players I listed as draft possibilities in the first part of this article, Happy Easter to our Readers, Giants Mock Draft but I’d like to hear about other players you guys feel might be a help to the team. I know we have more readers out there, so let me hear your thoughts on this. The Giants should slowly begin to pull away from the media for a while. They never reveal their poker hand to the media and I like it. Here is the draft order below.

NEW YORK – Hello Giants fans, I would like to wish you all a Happy St. Patricks Day! Even if you’re not irish, it doesn’t matter. They say everyone is irish on St. Paddy’s Day, so I hope you all enjoy yourselves and have a great time today. Some might be with family watching a game on TV or with friends out at a bar. I have done just about everything you can imagine on St. Patricks Day and have always had fun. I’m sure I will have a beer or two today and watch the Knicks play the Pacers in their green jerseys. It’s awesome that it falls on a weekend, so people will have time for a nice breakfast and day of rest tomorrow on Sunday. Chicago will turn the river green and many other fun things will be happening all over the country. Beware the Green Man!
The Giants signed P Steve Weatherford to a five year deal this week. I love this signing and this punter. I expect a big season from him and would love to see former Giants punter Jeff Feagles, coaching special teams for Big Blue. I think Feagles and Weatherford would hit it off and make a good team. I understand that QB Peyton Manning wants to finish his career with enough numbers to be considered the all-time greatest quarterback in history. He would love to get another ring too. But why not as a coach? I would love to see the Giants give Manning a five year deal as QB coach and see what happens. I think Peyton would win at least one more ring with the Big Blue coaching staff.
The Giants also signed safety Chris Horton, who once played for the Washington Redskins. He is a guy described as having injury issues. I say welcome to New York and people should give him the benefit of the doubt that he is healed. Horton is mostly expected to help out on special teams. I find it interesting that former Dallas TE Martellus Bennett, will be wearing current free agent TE Kevin Boss’ old number, No.89. The tight end group and cornerback group have been thoroughly addressed so far. In a side story, former Giants players got into a twitter war when WR Amani Toomer took acceptation with a comment TE Jeremy Shockey made about possibly returning to the Giants one day in the near future? They will be fine but I doubt either will play for Big Blue again.
I know there will be a lot of people drinking today and having fun. Be smart and safe when you go out and remember there are kids walking around, don’t drink and drive and ruin your life. Have fun but be smart. Take a cab or have someone pick you up if you’re too drunk to drive. It only takes one phone call and it could save your life or someone else’s. Today is your lucky day!

NEW YORK – The New York Giants have made some roster moves already by signing WR Domenik Hixon, TE Jake Ballard and CB Bruce Johnson. The Giants have also released veteran RB Brandon Jacobs, who may want to test the market but return for less money and get that third ring we all know is coming to New York under QB Eli Manning. Come back to New York for a bit less Brandon, RB Ahmad Bradshaw is the No.1 RB in New York but the two players compliment each other well. Manning was also in the news this week for restructuring his contract to free up over $6.5 million dollars in cap space for 2012. The Giants will also need to pay DE Osi Umenyiora, who deserves to be paid a nice 3 or 4 year deal for consistent production on the field.
Indianapolis Colts QB Peyton Manning was released by the team this week, in an emotional press conference which included Jim Irsay. He has already begun checking out teams, including Denver where he was spotted this week and Miami where he will be soon. The Washington Redskins make a bold move giving up three 1st round picks (2012,2013,2014) and this years 2nd round pick, for this years No.2 overall pick from the St. Louis Rams. A pick most believe will be used on QB Robert Griffin III. The New York Jets sign QB Mark Sanchez long term with a five year $40 million dollar deal. Even WR Plaxico Burress was in the news and suggesting a return to the G-Men is always a possibility. I don’t know about that one.
It’s worth mentioning again how much I love the New York Giants using the franchise tag on punter Steve Weatherford. OL Kareem Mckenzie might be on his way out too. It sounds like the Giants are going to bulk up their offensive line this year which is a smart move. I would like to wish Brandon Jacobs all of the best in whatever he decides to do and Kareem McKenzie too, if he should leave. Of course, WR Mario Manningham is another big name floating around about possibly leaving the team. I hope that isn’t the case with Manningham but I wish him well too if he goes.
The NFL draft is next month and I think the Giants could use their first round pick on an offensive player for a change. I love the idea of getting a 10-year offensive lineman like OG Cordy Glenn 6’5″ 345 pounds in round one or OT Mike Adams 6’6″ 320 pounds. Perhaps, a stud tight end like Dwayne Allen 6’3″ 255 pounds or Coby Fleener 6’6″ 247 pounds. I doubt they will use a first round pick on a running back but I can see them taking one within the first four rounds. Giants GM Jerry Reese seems to be particularly astute at finding gems within the RB groups in later rounds, so it could wander into round five. I haven’t heard anything about special teams coach Tom Quinn yet but that is an area I expect will be addressed soon. It looks like K Lawrence Tynes has become a good luck charm for Big Blue and P Steve Weatherford is a rock star compared to other NFL punters. Hixon will help the return game and I expect WR Jerrel Jernigan to be primarily used as a WR. RB Da’Rel Scott is one to watch too. The Giants should also lock up LB Chase Blackburn for 3 years if possible in my opinion. I expect a linebacker to be drafted within the first four rounds. NEW YORK – The New York Giants are Super Bowl XLVI Champions. I might start every article this week off with that sentence. Giants GM Jerry Reese is a winner. He deserves to win the GM of the Year award at least once in his career. I hope the voters see what he has accomplished and consider him each and every year. It’s funny how quickly NFL fans, who do not like the Giants, get sick of the sports news already after less then a week, such haters.
What can I say? I can watch that stuff all day. I am 100% sure that Jerry Reese has already started digging into the 2012 draft class and is without a doubt on top of the free agent market and the contract situations of current Giants players. I know he went back to work the next day following the Super Bowl XLVI victory, even if it wasn’t from his office or even in the NJ facility, Jerry Reese was working on making the Giants a better team and continues to do that right now, I guarantee it. The G-Men will never be mediocre under Reese but the amount of player injuries is something that really needs to be addressed this offseason, we cannot continue to hemorrhage 20% of the team to the IR List each season, it will catch up to us eventually. But enough of the negative, the good news is that Reese has stacked the Giants with a ton of talent. I’m extremely excited to see the players who went on IR last year get healthy. I’m just as excited about getting star players back as I am for the upcoming 2012 NFL Draft, where Reese will kill it once again I’m sure. My opinion on the draft is go 10-year Offensive lineman in round one Jerry. Show Easy Eli that the team is committed to protecting him through the prime of his career. I believe the team should walk away from the 2012 draft with no less then two offensive linemen to throw into the mix. The name of the game on offense is ‘Protect Eli Manning’. I can see the G-men grabbing a TE or RB within the first three rounds as well. The rest of the picks will most likely go to DB’s and LB’s and hopefully they are able to grab a special teams star.

The upcoming NFL Draft in April, where the G-Men will have the 32nd pick, the very last one in round one. NEW YORK – That was one heck of a way to end a great season. The Giants defeat the New England Patriots 21-17 in Indianapolis. It took a fourth quarter comeback to win a second Super Bowl for Big Blue as QB Eli Manning wins his second Super Bowl MVP Award. Most seem to agree this win puts Tom Coughlin and Eli Manning in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, you can include myself among them. There really is no way to describe the joy I’m feeling now and will feel for a very long time. I’m stuck someplace between numb and bursting with energy. Some where in between shocked and exhausted. I’m running on empty but so happy that it doesn’t matter at this point. The true blue fans have been waiting and anticipating this moment and when it finally arrives, it’s wonderful. So enjoy it!
Thank you to the New York Giants organization including the Mara and Tisch families. Thank you to Head Coach Tom Coughlin, the rest of the coaches and players. Thank you GM Jerry Reese, who has done an outstanding job, since taking over for Giants legend Ernie Accorsi. Go back and read all of my articles about Mr. Reese and you will see I have always been a fan of his work and have praised his draft skills and player transactions. Some of his moves however, had even me scratching my head this past offseason. In the NFL Lockout riddled 2011 year, players were coming and going at will in the NFL and the G-men lost some key players like WR Steve Smith, TE Kevin Boss, C Shaun O’Hara and OL Rich Seubert to retirement or contract situations. Then they lost CB Terrell Thomas, LB Clint Sintim, OT William Beatty, WR Domenik Hixon, LB Jonathan Goff and about ten more guys to the dreaded IR list (injured reserve). 2011 marks three straight years of injury epidemics for the G-men with at least 12 going on the season ending IR list, per year, that’s about 20% of the team going down for three straight years. But the Giants and Jerry Reese made all the right moves that had this team clicking by the end of the season. Congrats you are now Super Bowl Champions!
I thought singers Kelly Clarkson and Madonna did a good job with their respective areas of the nights entertainment. I thought NBC could have done a better job with the trophy presentation and post game stuff but thats why we have remote controls right? I also noticed audio problems coming from the NBC channel during the game. I suggest that Giants fans out there savor this moment and really enjoy this win for a couple of days. Do not get into any talks about the draft or who is signing what contract and when, just relax for a few days and enjoy winning the Super Bowl.

QB Eli Manning – Super Bowl XLVI MVP Manning had a great game finishing with 296 yards 1 TD and 0 INT’s. Congrats Champ!
WR Hakeem Nicks – Nicks had a solid Super Bowl performance finishing with 103 yards 0 TD’s. Congrats Champ!
RB Ahmad Bradshaw – Bradshaw played like he wanted another ring and finished with 72 yards 1 TD rushing and 19 yards receiving. AB is a big part of this Championship. Congrats Champ!
DE Justin Tuck – Tuck was emotionally spent following his 2 sack performance in Super Bowl XLVI. God Bless and Congrats Champ!
LB Chase Blackburn – Blackburn was making a lot of plays out there and finished with 1 INT. Congrats Champ!
DE Jason Pierre-Paul – JPP will forever be double teamed now, so he will need to get bigger. He was still causing havoc and blocking passes. Congrats Champ!
TE Jake Ballard – Jake Ballard was injured during the game and finished with 10 yards. Congrats Champ!
CB Corey Webster – Webster played like a Champion and got his ring, great season Corey! Congrats Champ!
RB Brandon Jacobs – Jacobs ran hard and finished with 37 yards. Two rings for Mr. Jacobs now. Congrats Champ!
S Antrel Rolle – Rolle was playing his heart out and creating chaos for the Patriots. Congrats Champ!
WR Victor Cruz – The Salsa King Cruz caught Eli Manning’s only TD pass of the game. Congrats Champ!
CB Aaron Ross – Ross owned the first quarter and really made an impact in this game. Congrats Champ!
LB Michael Boley – Boley had an outstanding game and was the leading tackler for Big Blue. Congrats Champ!
WR Mario Manningham – Super Mario had the play of the game and finished with 73 yards 0 TD’s. Congrats Champ!
S Deon Grant – The veteran safety was fourth on the team in tackles and really whacking guys out there. 3 more years! Congrats Champ!
TE Bear Pascoe – Pascoe filled in nicely for the other two injured TE’s and finished with 33 yards. Congrats Champ!
DE Osi Umenyiora – Osi was causing disruptions for most of the game and really turned up the heat at the end. Pay Osi! Congrats Champ!
FB Henry Hynoski – Hynoski made a couple of nice catches and was blocking like a mad man. Congrats Champ!
TE Travis Beckum – Beckum tore his ACL early in the game and never returned. I’m sure the Super Bowl ring will help him heal. Congrats Champ!
DT Linval Joseph – Joseph did a great job in the middle and is a player to keep an eye on. Congrats Champ!
S Kenny Phillips – KP was second on the team in tackles and was throwing his body into every tackle. Congrats Champ!
DT Chris Canty – Canty had a nice game was clogging up the middle for Big Blue. Congrats Champ!
P Steve Weatherford – The Giants will sign Weatherford long term this offseason. The Weatherman had an outstanding game. Congrats Champ!
K Lawrence Tynes – Tynes had a great game by making both of his FG attempts and his lone extra point attempt. Congrats Champ!
Giants Offense – The Giants offense beat the Patriots defense for most of the game. Now, they are Champions of the World. Congrats Champs!
Giants Defense – The Giants defense held Brady to 17 points. They had 2 sacks and 1 INT. Great Game Champs!
Giants Special Teams – The special teams had a very nice game and have improved a lot since week one. Great Game Champs!

NEW YORK – The New York Giants are going to play a very important game tomorrow and they know it. All they need to do is remain confident and stay focused on the game. Win the game. Focus on making yourself play on a consistent level the entire game and do your job. Cover your assignments and sack Patriots QB Tom Brady often. Back in the old days, a man would ride into town on a horse pulled carriage with a sign on the side that read ‘Magic Elixir Cures All That Ails’. This man would “park” his carriage somewhere in town and pull out his soapbox to stand high on top of while he sold his soul for a satchel of silver. This man was a dream killer and used hope to blind the faithful. Selling them empty promises filled with poison, he calls himself Professor Belichick and boy does he have a monkey named Manning on his back.
The only difference between this ‘false prophet’ man and how the New England Patriots media machine sells confidence, is the Patriots use a satellite orbiting the earth from outer space as their soapbox in the year 2012. The truth is the New England Patriots look rattled to me and nervous. They look concerned and blinded by their desire to avenge the most devastating loss in New England Patriots history, when the New York Giants beat the undefeated Patriots (18-1) in Super Bowl XLII. The greatest upset in Super Bowl history with the greatest play in Super Bowl history. That is something that will never go away and will be around for centuries. There are Giants fans right now, carving Super Bowl XLII Champions and the 18-1 story into marble and stone somewhere in the tri-state area. Those are things that will be around forever, yes Andre 3K, I mean, forever ever. And I too am sorry Miss Jackson. I am for real.
If the Giants beat the Patriots in the big game for a second time, the G-Men go down in history as beating them twice in four years. If the Patriots were somehow lucky enough to win (knock on wood they don’t win), history wouldn’t say they avenged the worst loss in team history, football history will say the Patriots evened up the score with New York. I prefer to win this game on Sunday and ponder the future on Monday. Giants Head Coach Tom Coughlin has really done a great job with this team and it’s clear that he has never stopped believing in them. I am proud to include myself among the few who never stopped believing in this team and I can be seen from time to time asking fans “Do You Believe?” on twitter during games. I’m all in and ready to get this game started. Being this happy all of the time is exhausting and my face hurts from smiling all of the time when checking out the Super Bowl XLVI coverage. However, I am getting concerned that my head might explode from the information overload that has occurred these past two weeks.

NEW YORK – The NFC played the AFC in another Pro Bowl designed to be a sleeping tranquilizer on Sunday afternoons. It got so bad, they had to move it to the evenings. The opening ceremonies and hoopla are more entertaining then the game itself, that is why I say expand them. My final score prediction was an NFC win 47-35 in a high scoring scrimmage of stars. The actual final score was even worse, the AFC beat the NFC 59-41. I sent NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell my previous article with ideas on improving this game. It was cool to see the star players hanging out and interacting but make the Pro Bowl about the game and let the elite and hungry college players have a moment to shine. Give out cars to three types of Pro Bowl MVP. I wish there was an easy fix but there is simply too much money tied up with those star players. Something has to be done.
I’m sure there are some fans out there that didn’t even watch this game. Either way, the game I know everyone will be watching is Super Bowl XLVI next Sunday night at 6:18 PM EST. I continue to say the same thing, watch Eli Manning have an elite game and win Super Bowl MVP for a second time. He is in the zone so deep, that he was must be ready to get on the field already. Manning and Jason Pierre-Paul were voted into the Pro Bowl but skipped it because of the Super Bowl. That was Manning’s second career Pro Bowl and JPP’s first ever but the ring is the thing. The ring is what teams play for at the end of the day. I expect a tough game from the Patriots who are a very good football team but they simply will not be able to match the Giants resiliency.
The Giants will continue their ‘Road Warrior’ mentality by wearing the road white jerseys in the Super Bowl, just like the ones they wore when they beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl back in 2007. There are so many angles to this game including the New York vs. Boston angle which is deep in both cities. The rematch angle, the revenge angle. The Brady vs. Manning angle, the Lucas Oil stadium in Indy angle. Peyton’s house in Indianapolis hosting little brother Eli in the Super Bowl. The Tom Coughlin and Bill Belichick relation to coach Bill Parcells angle. The one angle I’m certain will be the most enjoyable is knowing these teams will be playing hard and trying to win a football game unlike the Pro Bowl, which continues to be a disappointment. Congrats to the players voted in and much respect for their skills on the field. This isn’t about the players, it’s about making the event something worth watching.

NEW YORK – Hey Giants fans, can you believe we are only one game away from playing in another Super Bowl? It is really starting to hit me today as we get closer to the big game against the 49ers in San Francisco this Sunday night. Let me start by saying that I believe the Giants will win this game. However, I think this will be a very close game with a victory point margin between 1-3 points. I’m going to give a final score prediction of 28-27 with a Giants win by Manning taking over the game in the fourth quarter. The Giants ‘Road Warrior’ mentality continues to produce results and this team seems to do their best work when the pressure is on.
The secret ingredient to this game is going to be speed. The Giants need to use speed to their advantage here and utilize RB Ahmad Bradshaw with the majority of carries. I would also unleash WR Mario Manningham in this game and throw to him until they leave WR Hakeem Nicks or WR Victor Cruz with a ‘one on one’ situation to manipulate. The 49ers have an extremely aggressive defense and they didn’t get to the NFC Championship game by pulling punches. The physical play that Head Coach Tom Coughlin preaches will be important but speed kills. I am not just talking about the offense here, the defense will need speed to get to QB Alex Smith often and disrupt his game. The areas of concern for Big Blue are the same as the past few weeks, on offense it is the offensive line and on defense it is the secondary. Both of these groups have really improved their games in the past few weeks but they cannot compare to the production of Manning or the defensive front four.
Roger Goodell and the NFL can be sure that fans will be watching the refs like hawks in this game and if they ruin the game with bogus calls, the NFL will have it’s integrity questioned by many. Teams spend hundreds of millions of dollars and players give blood, sweat and tears to make it to the playoffs and to have it ruined by a blind ref is unacceptable in 2012. Another thing, Giants fans came out in force for the Green Bay game in Wisconsin and I expect the same thing to happen in San Francisco. Let’s hope the fans can keep things classy and stop acting like idiots in the presence of women and children. Enjoy the game but if you’re willing to go to jail for a long time because you cannot control yourself, then just stay home. Leave the stadium seats for the true fans.

NEW YORK – New Year’s Eve is one of the most exciting dates on our calendar year for about seven billion people. It is the week after Christmas, so it is family at home for some or a night to go out and party for others. There is nothing wrong with either of those choices and I have done both. I want to wish you all a very Happy New Year’s Eve! I hope you are able to be with friends or family and if not, that’s ok too. There are so many people walking around in every direction. The city is lit like a festive wonderland and smiles are everywhere. Watch the ball drop on TV, if you can’t be there.
There is simply no better place in the world to be on New Year’s Eve, then New York City. It is the pinnacle celebration of planet earth.
I have been to Times Square for New Year’s Eve three times in my life. Three times I’ve watched that ball drop into a sea of party people and by 1:00 AM EST, the only people left on the street are sanitation workers cleaning up the confetti. It’s a strange sight if you have never experienced it before. You go from being surrounded by a million screaming people, celebrating the biggest block party on the face of the planet to seeing dozens of sanitation workers in less then an hour. If you can recall that, then you were there. Knowing what to expect, the second time I went to see the ball drop, I immediately hit a bar within seconds of the ball dropping. Have you ever seen a place get instantly packed? It’s like a rain delay at a baseball stadium. Boom, heres 500 people shoulder to shoulder looking for a drink. It is quite a sight.
Because I have moved around so much, many of my friends would ask me which time zone I celebrate New Year’s Eve from. My reply was New York City because I was born there. I believe that your inner life clock is predicated on the place where you were born and where your first heartbeat occurred. That is the time zone to your life clock. So, if anyone ever asks you that same question, you will now know how to answer it.
I hope everyone enjoys themselves tonight and drinks responsibly. Remember, there are a lot of kids out there trying to have a good time. Take a cab! At midnight, it’s Goodbye 2011 and Hello 2012. Be Safe!
The Giants will be at home when they play the Cowboys on New Year’s Day at 1:00 PM EST. I predict a Giants win 31-21.

NEW YORK – Hello Giants fans and Happy Holidays! I apologize to the die hard Giants fans who already know what I’m going to say in this article, when I discuss the playoffs. You know the scenario but for those of you who need to catch up on the information highway, the Giants need to win both of their final two games of the 2011 season. Both of these teams, the Jets and Cowboys, are formidable opponents. Both of these games will be played at MetLife stadium. The Giants have no choice but win these games or face a third straight year without a postseason game. Nobody wants to see that happen and the reason for all of this misfortune is quite clear, the injuries.
The Giants simply need to win the next two games, hope for some of their players to return from injury and give round one everything they’ve got. We know that QB Eli Manning will do his part and make things happen. I’m more concerned with the defensive personnel then I am with the offense. Is it crazy to think that GM Jerry Reese would bring in a veteran defensive back for the playoff run? Anything is possible I guess. It all comes back to the fact that Big Blue needs to win the next two games. If they do win the next two games, one still has to wonder how deep they can go in the playoffs with the 28th ranked defense.
If the Giants somehow miss the playoffs for a third straight year, what happens? You can’t realistically fire coaches over players getting injured, that just isn’t fair. The pressure from fans might too be too much to overcome for the Giants front office this year, I believe changes are inevitable and will occur swiftly following the end of the season. I also think the G-Men have a great shot at making the playoffs still this year. Two huge games back to back to end 2011, the year of the heart attack and lock out. I cannot imagine this crazy year ending any other way.

I told you about the New York Giants making the playoffs dozens of times in their history. But do you know how many playoff wins they have? The overall postseason record is 20-24 and the Giants have a 5-4 playoff record since 2000. They are also 1-1 for Super Bowl appearances during that period of time. The lost to the Baltimore Ravens in 2000 and beat the undefeated New England Patriots in SBXLII. NEW YORK – The New York Giants can feel the draft creeping up on them. I cannot believe it is almost time for the 2012 NFL draft to kick off. In just about two weeks, fans will know who their first round pick will be. I have even heard some suggest the Giants trade away this years first round pick, for a first round pick next year and a second rounder this year, then work the two second round picks. I don’t know about this strategy because GM Jerry Reese usually keeps all of his draft picks. The Giants are very good at the draft and have had a tremendous draft record the past decade.
