NEW YORK – The Giants played the division rival Redskins today in a big game. The G-Men and fans were looking to avenge the opening day loss to Washington with a sweet revenge victory at MetLife stadium. The Redskins weren’t having it and beat up the G-Men the whole game before winning 23-10. As if the playoff picture needed any further clarity, the Giants will need to win both of their final regular season games if they want to make it back to the playoffs. The G-Men face a very good New York Jets team next weekend on Christmas Eve at 1:00 PM EST. It’s the Game of the Week as far as I’m concerned. This year, the battle for New York will be televised.
The Redskins scored in every quarter of this game and seemed to do whatever they wanted on offense. The Giants QB Eli Manning was intercepted three times and had 0 TD’s. There were some dropped balls in this game that had fans frustrated. The first half was brutal to watch as Washington moved the ball at will and quickly dropped 10 points on the Giants. The Redskins took a 17-3 lead into the locker room at halftime and the Giants were to receive the ball for the start of the third quarter. The Giants offense was anemic and could not make any big plays, they really seemed to be playing in slow motion. The Giants scored a garbage TD late in the 4th quarter but the damage was done. The Giants ran out of time and lost a game they should have won.
Let’s take a look at my notes from the game.
QB Eli Manning – Manning had a frustrating day and finished with 257 yards 0 TD’s and 3 INT’s.
RB Ahmad Bradshaw – AB had a quiet game despite scoring a late TD in the 4th quarter.
WR Hakeem Nicks – Nicks led all WR’s for Big Blue and finished with 73 yards 0 TD’s.
DE Justin Tuck – Justin Tuck got banged up early but continued to play. He was in on some big plays.
LB Michael Boley – Boley was making plays all over the field as usual. He finished 2nd on the team in tackles.
WR Mario Manningham – Super Mario was second on the team for WR’s and finished with 57 yards.
LB Mathias Kiawnuka – Kiwi was making some hard hits out there and causing havoc.
DE Jason Pierre-Paul – You down with JPP? The Beast led all tacklers on defense and also had 1 sack.
WR Victor Cruz – Cruz had a quiet day by his recent standards. He finished with 44 yards.
S Kenny Phillips – Phillips had a nice game and finished with 1 INT.
RB Brandon Jacobs – Brandon the Bull had a quiet game and finished with 33 yards 0 TD’s.
S Antrel Rolle – Rolle was balling out there and making big hits. He finished with a couple of big plays his way.
TE Jake Ballard – Ballard got banged up and is scheduled for an MRI tomorrow. He finished with 15 yards.
CB Aaron Ross – Ross had a decent game and did his best out there.
DT Chris Canty – Canty was fired up for this game and made a couple of big hits out there.
CB Corey Webster – Webster continues to make plays on the field and he also nabbed 1 INT.
DT Linval Joseph – Linval had a quiet game by his recent standards. He is becoming a force in the NFL.
CB Prince Amukamara – Prince is basically being thrown into the fire. He will learn from this year and get better.
P Steve Weatherford – The Weatherman continues his consistent play and has become a fan favorite.
K Lawrence Tynes – Tynes missed a FG attempt and made his only other attempt. He also made one extra point.
Giants Offense – The offense seemed sluggish and out of sync today. I was very disappointed with their performance.
Giants Defense – The defense could not stop the Redskins to save their lives today. They must forget about it and focus on the Jets.
Giants Special Teams – Once again, this group will be overhauled in a few weeks. Reese will make the right moves.
What did you think about the Giants performance against the Redskins?

I was at the game today and I frankly do not understand how a team can come out so out of sync offensively. It started the same as the Eagles loss. Two early turnovers and nothing was done. The quotes post game were about a desire to leverage play action. How can you use play action if you are not making an effort to establish the run? The first 3 plays were all passes. It seems as if we go deep or run the ball, nothing in between.
There were more drops, especially the one by Nicks and stupid penalties. So here we are, need to win two. It is going to be a long week!
Hey AJ, that must have been one upset stadium full of fans you were with. The crowd doesn’t really sound into the games when I watch them on TV, how were they LIVE? Did they make make noise and did they know when to make noise? were they the corporate type checking off ‘football game’ from their bucket lists but not really understanding the game?
The dropped passes have been driving me crazy all year, it’s like we don’t have enough problems. I feel bad for the WR’s because they are all good guys and no one feels worse then they do.
Rob – The crowd started to empty out in the third quarter. They were booing and angry. What many fans do not accept is how this team, especially the defense has come out flat so many times. There is a real lack of emotion (except for JPP) that is stunning at this point in the season. Dallas gave us a gift last week, and we gave it right back. I am not sure where this comes from, but frankly if they finish 8-8 or 9-7 and no playoffs, the staff needs to go. I blame the lack of emotion on the coaches. There is no fire in this team.
I’m sorry to hear that man. I never understood leaving a game early. I like staying until the very end. This has been one of the more frustrating seasons that I can think of.
i hated to comment on the day im leaving for vacation with that debacle.but the bottom line was the redskins won the battle at the line of scrimmage all day long.is it me or did the skins just look bigger and stronger then the g-men did all day.i feel sorry for guys like A.J. that actually paid to see that nonsense on the field.they were in the drivers seat,a homefield advantage with the fans behind them, how are they not coached up for this game.to be perfectly honest, the way its one week up,one week down with this team,i would rather see them lose out and get some much needed fixes next season.oh and just to add insult to injury, they opened the door for the eagles who could win out and steal the division.just very disgusted with the g-men right now.on a brighter note, merry christmas, talk with ya after the holidays.no matter what happens my heart bleeds big blue,i just wish there bleeding would stop.
Yes, regarding the Eagles, they are in a perfect position to win out. They can go out and beat Dallas, and I see us coming out with the same lack of intensity as we showed in our home games against Philly and Washington. I love my Giants. I think this team is so much better than they have shown. The offense has carried this team all year, it is time for the defense to share its load. I say chuck the zone defense because they cannot play zone. Play man the whole game and rush the passer as hard as possible, especially sanchez!
it seems as if there not buying in anymore to the defensive coaching.when i look on the sidelines,it seems as if they dont have that hunger in there eyes anymore on defense and everyone is missing assignments.i mean if you could not get these guys coached up and flying around the field for what was a playoff atmosphere in there own house with all of the fans screaming and a division rival who only won 4 games, something is legitimately wrong.i hate to say it,but there needs to be some changes made, because if they lose out on the playoffs after being in the drivers seat, then people need to get let go.by the way,big rex is mouthing off again about how there not the little brother anymore in new york.if thats not fuel to use for motivation,i dont know what is.i really wish i knew who was going to show up on saturday.but i do know that if the g-men dont show up,there done and so are some coaches.i dont even care about playoffs anymore, they need to spank the jets and at least give giants fans a christmas gift.especially after that debacle yesterday.again, sorry you had to pay to see that nonsense, the defense should mail you a check for them not showing up lol, enjoy your holidays A.J.
hey Bobby, did you see that Rodney Hampton answered your question? I posted that article a couple of days ago, check it out!
i did see that rob.very cool.it was really nice of rodney to take the time to answer those questions.hey, bring some good karma to that game saturday rob,the g-men need all the help they can get.they were in the drivers seat buddy and they let the eagles right back in it.i will be in asheville N.C. with the wife for the holidays, but you know i will find the television at 1pm saturday.i know your going to that game and will bring them much needed luck.talk to ya next week.enjoy the holidays.
Good buddy I’m glad, I figured you went away because you didn’t say anything over there, I know he goes back to read them all. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas with the family buddy and I will speak to you when you return. Go Giants!
