New York Giants WR Victor Cruz Has Elite Season

NEW YORK – Giants WR Victor Cruz came out of nowhere this season. His rise to fame and respect has not surprised me one bit though because I saw him working in training camp back in 2010. Fans got their first glimpse of the undrafted phenom that same year during a preseason game against the Jets, where he single handedly won the game for Big Blue with 145 yards and 3 TD’s. It must get quite annoying to constantly be asked “Where did you come from?” but Cruz won’t have to worry about being asked that question ever again after this season. Players and coaches know exactly who Victor Cruz is now and they will have the difficult task of trying to figure out how to stop him. Cruz will help the team if he is out there catching passes for 150 yards or forcing opposing defenses to double team him, leaving WR Hakeem Nicks or WR Mario Manningham open for the glory. Victor Cruz simply makes the Giants a better team any way you look at it and fans are hoping they pay him quickly before another Steve Smith situation arises. Do the right thing Big Blue!

Victor Cruz finished the 2011 regular season with 82 receptions for 1,536 yards and 9 TD’s. He was third in the league for total yards and finished first on the Giants in scoring. He also broke former Giants WR Amani Toomer’s record for single season reception yards. Not a bad second year if you ask me and let’s not forget he was injured (13 games, hamstring) most of his rookie season. He is now getting love from everyone in the league and the fans who watch the games. You can even vote for him to win the ‘Vizio Top Value Performer award for 2011’ by voting for him here Vote Now

Besides the tremendous season Vic has had on the field, Cruz has also become a fan favorite because he is a local product (Paterson, New Jersey) and understands how local people conduct themselves. He is polite, friendly and loves the game of football. He should be in Hawaii at the Pro Bowl this year and despite making a very modest salary, he hasn’t complained. That is just another trait that local blue collar workers love about this young man. But the same blue collar workers will be calling for Cruz to get a hefty raise because they know what he is worth. Not complaining and seeking a fair compensation are two different things around here. After all, he just had his first child (daughter Kennedy) with his longtime girlfriend and will need that money for diapers and girly things. I am a Victor Cruz fan and I’m glad he is a New York Giant!

What do you think about WR Victor Cruz and the season he had this year?

I have to admit rob,i was the first to say, how did the g-men let steve smith go to philly and how did they let plax go to the jets.now im like, steve smith who, plaxico who.those guys were great giants, but there time has come and gone.we all know that both plax and smith had pedestrian seasons.this victor cruz is something special, and even if he dont catch a ball in the packers game,he will be double covered and open it up for nicks and manningham to be wide open.i love the kid and he will bring giants fans a lot of happy memories.

Hey Bobby, if you were the first person perplexed by them letting go of Steve Smith, then I was the second lol. Looks like Jerry Reese knows what he he is doing. I have always had faith in the man despite the negativity that surrounds him at times. We need to work on the offensive line and all the pieces will be in place for a long run for years to come offensively.

Im all in buddy.i really believe we are going to see jerry reeses plan come to fruition sunday at lambeau.people around me say im crazy for being so calm about this game, but im not worried about this game at all.i think the g-men are going to play bigger stronger and faster from start to finish.i probably would have been more worried if this was a giants home game.i think the g-men on the road are going to play fast and loose.im serious when i say this one should be in the bag by the fourth quarter.standing by my prediction.new york giants 31-green bay 17.eli gets MVP of the game.giants defense gets game ball.

You’re not alone buddy, most fans I talk to are very calm. I’m starting to wonder if we are all a little too calm. After all, we are going to Green bay to play a 15-1 team and current Super Bowl Champions. I’m not saying we should be fearful but you would think fans would be a bit more concerned. I still feel like the Giants will win by 6 points and a score of 27-21 but I also think this will be a tough win. The Packers defense isn’t very good and we should be able to score on them. I’m concerned about our secondary mostly. Go Giants!

Heres something the sports media has not talked about.rodgers last game in real time was 3 weeks ago with there offense.i believe the team rolling is the g-men. and as for the bi-week,i think it hurts teams in there timing.the packers are a precision timed offensive machine.and with 3 weeks off against a pass rush thats only getting stronger with key defensive players that were not in the first meeting , the giants will force rodgers out of the pocket and hit him all day long and im really confident the g-men roll in this one. the giants are blessed in this one buddy, breathe easy.there will be a lot of happy nygiants fans tomorrow night.talk to ya monday rob.this will be like the g-men facing brady and the pats ,watch that pass rush of ny slow down that high octane offense of the pack, eli and the offense will handle the rest.its gonna be fun to watch.

I know what you mean Bobby, I was thinking that myself about Rodgers. We are only about 8 hours away now buddy. I’m very excited and hope you enjoy the game!

  4. bobbyg says:

I told you my friend.never worry when its rolling.

If the refs dont make idiotic calls, the g-men throw 10 more points on the board for low.you know the refs are bad when joe buck sticks up for us lol.going to san fran my friend.feels like the 80,s again.lets sign matt barr lol.

    • robdomaine says:

Those refs need to be under investigation man. Simply atrocious refs last night not only for the blown calls but all of the missed calls as well. I was ripping my hair out lol but we did win after all. I just finished my game notes article and mentioned it there too.
