12/8/11 Christmas DAC Day 8, Sunday Night Fever

NEW YORK – The New York Giants will play the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football in Texas. To say this is an important game would be an understatement. The Giants have no choice but to sweep the Cowgirls…huh hum, I mean the Cowboys or face another year without the playoffs. I wish I could say that I am confident the Giants can pull this task off but I’m not. I have to be honest with my readers and myself. The Giants are more likely to miss the playoffs this year, then they are to make it back. Let me explain why I feel like this and let me be clear, the Giants always have a shot to pull off the miracle because of QB Eli Manning. However, winning three out of the next four games will be extremely tough for Big Blue.

OK Giants fans, it’s time for some reality and serious reflection on the current situation. The Giants offense is ranked 9th in the NFL overall but that is only because of the passing game which ranks 4th. The Giants rushing game is ranked 29th (ouch!). It gets even worse on defense where the Giants passing defense is ranked 28th, while the rushing defense is ranked 23rd. The Giants overall defense is ranked 29th (ouch!) Elite teams won’t need much time in the video room to realize that you have to stop Eli Manning to win a game. It is no secret that the Giants have fallen down the rankings because of injuries and not the poor play of first string athletes. It has been this way with injuries for 3 straight years now.

DAC Fact

Did you know the Giants were purchased for only $500 dollars back in 1925 by the Giants original owner Tim Mara? As of 2010, the New York Giants are reportedly worth $1.3 billion dollars (according to Forbes estimates). Not a bad investment huh?

Will the New York Giants sweep the Dallas Cowboys this year?

i feel the same way rob.i dont know if the g-men put all there energy into the packers game and have nothing left for the rest of the way.lets not forget that the packers pretty much scored at will on this giants defense and that basically is what scares me about the g-men running the table.especially now that the boys have miles austin back .i know i sound like a broken record, but even with all the injuries, the giants have a lot of big names out there on defense that cant seem to come through when needed most, especially in close games.i keep having hope that the packers game was the patriots game in 07 before the playoffs that woke this giants team up offensively and defensively, but lets face it,with no strahan to motivate this bunch,i have not seen anyone else in the lockeroom to have strong voice that would shake them up.lets also not forget that the packers dropped 8 passes from rogers in that game that should have been caught.im not saying the cowboys are the packers by no means, but they always play the g-men tough.but the giants have it all in front of them if they want it.and at 6-6 thats a pretty good place to be controlling your own destiny in december.

It was very hard for me to admit that in writing but it is the way I feel. The roster is simply too depleted in my opinion. Still, stranger things have happened but I think it is unlikely the G-Men make it back this year.

i have to add that the g-men lost 4 straight with 3 they could have won, close games against the eagles, niners, and packers with the one blowout by the saints.what bothers me is that if the g-men had no sense of urgency against the eagles at home when they basically would have walked into the playoffs, then what makes me think they could turn it on now and win out, when they faltered with better defenses in the passed few years in november and december.i know the 07 team was nothing short of a miracle that season and i dont want to throw that same scenario on this giants team going into the dallas game.i know it dont work that way.its just like when coughlin was asked if he should have took more time off the clock before the 2 point conversion sunday,it dont work that way.you cant ask a team who has not shown up on defense in 4 weeks to automatically be the 86 defense on sunday night.

They absolutely could/should have won those three games, I agree. I’m still annoyed but a couple of those losses. I think the Giants will win on Sunday night but where they go from there is up in the air. the 1986 defense would surely be welcome right about now. Get George Martin on the horn lol

oh yeah,i think the g-men will sweep the boys under the table, lol.
