12/4/11 Christmas DAC Day 4, Game Day Fact

December 4, 2011

NEW YORK – Because of the normal nygreporter ‘Game Notes’ article today, we will only be doing a short DAC fact for today and on all game days. Just a little something for you while you wait for our article later after the game. It is hard to believe we are only 20 days away from Christmas Eve now and 20 days away from that Christmas Eve game with the Jets that I’ll be going to. Remember, my Giants/Jets article will be published on December 26, 2011 for that weekend because I will be away. I am very excited for that game! The Giants play the undefeated Green Bay Packers today at 4:15 PM EST. Go Giants!

DAC Fact:

Do you know how many retired jersey numbers the Giants have? The answer might surprise you. I have to be honest, when I think of retired numbers and teams that might run out of numbers to retire one day, the same team comes to mind, the Yankees. But the Giants are a close second with 11 numbers retired so far. DE Michael Strahan should also have his number retired one day down the road. Let’s take a look at the numbers and players retired.

New York Giants retired numbers.

No.1 – Ray Flaherty, Ray has the honor of being the first person with a professional sports number retired, in any sport.

No.4 – Tuffy Leemans

No.7 – Mel Hein

No.11 – Phil Simms

No.14 – Y.A. Tittle

No.16 – Frank Gifford

No.32 – Al Blozis

No.40 – Joe Morrison

No.42 – Charlie Conerly

No.50 – Ken Strong

No.56 – Lawrence Taylor

What is your favorite New York Giants number and why? Do you own any Giants jerseys?

12/3/11 Christmas DAC Day 3, Justin Tuck Football Camp

December 3, 2011

NEW YORK – Hello Giants Fans, would you like to meet Justin Tuck and get some valuable football knowledge from the man himself? I might be able to help you out with that. I have a very cool opportunity for some of you Giants fans out there. I’m sure that most of our readers saw the article I wrote about a week ago concerning Justin Tuck’s ProCamp football camp for kids. It looks like they are doing something special for the holidays and offering some upgrades at a reduced price. I think this is an excellent chance for parents to treat their kids to a once in a lifetime opportunity.

All of the information is available on their website Justin Tuck including schedule and pricing.

I remember getting to meet the New York Giants at Giants stadium for some trip we took as kids while playing local football. I was in the 8th or 9th grade in school but it still feels like yesterday. Tis’ the season to be jolly and I’m getting this for my Godson as a stocking stuffer. He is really into sports and will love this. Please remember, the dates have not yet been determined. You will be notified of the camp dates, which will be in 2012. If it happens to rain on one of the days you’re attending camp, all kids and parents will be brought to a nearby indoor facility and they will hold camp there. There will also be a camp store for snacks, drinks and merchandise nearby. You can pre-order a ‘camp bracelet’ for the kids which is basically a lunch bracelet for an additional $10. The bracelet includes 2 sports drinks, lunch and 1 snack, each day. The price for the 2-day camp itself is $149 per kid, which is basically dinner and a movie these days for couples with children.

Welcome to DAC Day 3!

The Justin Tuck Football Camp Holiday Promotion includes a camp spot and $80 in FREE Upgrades:

-2012 Camp registration

-FREE Access to the School of the Legends Training Online Video of your choice

-A Personalized Commemorative Certificate

DAC Fact:

Justin Tuck has played his entire career with the New York Giants since being drafted by them (3rd round, 74th overall) in 2005. Christmas Advent Calander: 12/1/11 DAC Day 1, The Welcome

December 1, 2011

NEW YORK – Hello Giants fans, I would like to introduce you to the first ever Digital Advent Calendar (DAC) for the New York Giants on our website this Christmas. What this will do is change the nygreporter format for the entire month of December with daily articles and deeper analysis with holiday cheer. I plan on throwing in some cool mystery guests on certain days or trivia other days or something interesting under the ‘Holiday DAC’ titles, for each of the advent calendar days (25) until Christmas Day. Some family fun!

Leave all your answers to the trivia questions in the comment area. Search the comment area for the correct answer given by me, usually within 48 hours of posting the trivia question. So, anything you see with the letters DAC in the title, represents the Digital Advent Calander. We encourage you to participate and leave comments below on what you liked and what you didn’t care for. It will only make us better next year when we continue the tradition. Don’t take this too seriously, just have fun with it. There are no prizes for correct answers, this is for bragging rights only.

Welcome to DAC Day 1 – 12/1/11

DAC Fact:

An interesting holiday fact about the Giants holiday games, is they won their first ever holiday game when they played the Brooklyn Lions (Lions were the home team) on November 25, 1926. The New York Giants beat the Lions 17-0 on turkey day over 80 years ago, pretty crazy huh? I was very surprised when I learned about how many Christmas games the Giants have played in. I was equally surprised when I learned about how many Thanksgiving day games Big Blue has played. Both of these facts represent the trivia question below.

DAC Trivia:

Question: How many holiday games have the New York Giants played in since 1925? (Thanksgiving and Christmas)

Answer: ???? (leave answers in comment section)

RD – nygreporter.com – Happy Holidays!
