2010 NFL Draft: New York Giants Part 1

Hello Giants fans, I thought we could do something different today and try to predict the Giants draft picks by position and round. Naming player prospects is fine as well, as long as you list the position next to the name. I have been having some talks with my fellow Giants fans about this and opinions vary as always. Of course, we still don’t know if Big Blue is done with the free agency market yet. So far, they have signed S Antrel Rolle and QB Jim Sorgi. There are positions of need to fill, with MLB being the most apparent.

So for now, let’s assume that the G-Men are done with free agency (which I do not believe). Looking at the current roster and taking into consideration the quality of players that remain at each position, let’s try to figure out what the Giants will do on draft day. Good luck and I look forward to checking out your predictions for the 2010 NFL Draft. I will leave my personal predictions below.

I have to say that I agree with you in premise, though I don’t think we’ll get another RB.

I’d also like to see us getting Kirk Morrison, giving up our third rounder for an established MLB who would be thrilled to be leaving Oakland…so I guess it would go like this:

    Round 1: MLB
    Round 2: DT
    Round 3: traded to Oakland
    Round 4: Offensive Lineman (guard)
    Round 5: safety
    Round 6: Offensive Lineman (center)
Round 7: best player available regardless of position

Good stuff Saulo. Kyle was talking about trading our 3rd round pick for DL Shaun Rogers possibly. I wouldn’t mind trading a 3rd round pick for an upgrade at the MLB position though. I would not be opposed to the order in which you picked the draft either.

Most disagree with my taking a safety with the 2nd round pick. This years draft is the deepest it has been in a while for the safety position and Kenny Phillips is sill a question mark at this point. that is why I am in favor of grabbing a promising young talent (Chad Jones) in round 2.

  3. Kyle L. says:

You are scarred by the 2009 season lol. The Giants aren’t drafting a safety in round 2

    • robdomaine says:

Well, well, look who decided to drop by and say hello lol. You’re right, I am nervous but not scared, I’m nervous that Kenny Phillips won’t be fully healthy and we didn’t draft another safety in a draft that has A LOT of good safeties in it.

      • Josh Berman says:

Hey Rob, don’t lose any sleep over Phillips read the article the New York Daily News wrote yesterday about his progress. It is really promising right now, and he is excited to work with Rolle, they are working out together in Miami. I think MLB is the obvious big need with OL and DL right behind. Maybe another corner for insurance and if available maybe a late RB but the RB class is not deep at all. Also, what are the Giants going to do about Tynes? I can’t stand another season with him and they missed their chance with Lloyd.

          Hey Josh,

I have read everything about Kenny Phillips being ahead of schedule and all of that. I didn’t read about him working out in Miami with Rolle yet though, nice call on that. I hope everything we are reading is correct and Phillips can play this season and have a long healthy career.

I completely agree with you about Tynes too. I don’t know what the heck he is still doing on the team!

  4. Kyle L. says:

Round 1: Sean Weatherspoon, LB, Mizzou

    2 Lamarr Houston, DT, Texas

    3 Matt Tenant, C, BC

    4. Legarrett Blount, HB, Oregon

  5. Kyle L. says:

I just don’t think McClain will be there…
