NEW YORK – It doesn’t get much bigger then Monday Night Football, when it comes to a national stage. The Giants had this game marked on the calendar before the season started. The Giants have been running the table in the NFC East but lately the Cowboys have been working their way back into the mix. Beating the Saints would send a message to the league and get them closer to that ‘ten win’ mark we all think would solidify a playoff berth. But it wasn’t meant to be and the Giants lost 49-24 in a thorough beating by QB Drew Brees and the Saints. Fans were losing their minds in frustration at what was perceived to be a lack of effort. One thing is for sure, the Giants can’t blame the refs for this one. The G-Men (4 penalties) seemed to be getting every call going in their favor and the Saints finished with 11 penalties called against them.
The Saints were moving the ball at will against the Giants defense. The first half had me squirming in my seat as usual and the air of hope remained when the score was 7-3 in the 1st quarter, which quickly became 14-3 and then 21-3 at halftime before settling in at 21-10 early in the 3rd quarter. It was still a competitive game and the air of hope, still seemed possible. That is until the Saints scored 28 more points in the second half. The Giants offense did their job in my opinion with putting up 465 total yards of offense and 24 points. They should have scored at least one or two more TD’s though and made the Saints defense look good. My 10 year old nephew will no doubt tell me that the reason the Giants lost was because I fell asleep with a few minutes left in the game. He is convinced we control the fate of sports teams by watching the entire game on TV from beginning to end. Maybe he is right. But sometimes I’m right too, like my pre-game prediction via twitter saying DE Jason Pierre-Paul would have a great game. JPP led the entire defense in tackles. Nice job Jason! Have fun in Hawaii.
In my heart, I believe the Giants lost this game simply because statistically, the defense had one of their worst games of the year. The defensive stat line is empty. No INT’s, no sacks and no forced fumbles. The Giants defense did nothing to prevent Brees from exploding for 4 TD’s and the Saints from scoring 49 points. Our passing game was good, our running game was decent. I thought the G-Men would have put up more points on the Saints defense. A couple of turnovers in a shoot out makes all of the difference when the music stops. Besides the INT, the Giants had 4 fumbles of which they lost one. IDR. IDR is my new term for Injury Depleted Roster. The Giants have IDR and the only known cure for this pandemic, is to get healthy star players on the field. The Giants should have 9 wins right now in my opinion. Instead they fall to 6-5 and drop to second place in the NFC East, behind the Cowboys.
Let’s take a look at some of my notes from the game.
QB Eli Manning – Manning had another good game. He finished with 406 yards 2 TD’s and 1 INT. By the way, Manning just breached the 26,000 career passing yards mark and now has 26,004. Way to go!
RB Brandon Jacobs – Jacobs was running hard but hasn’t been as productive as Bradshaw yet. He finished with 46 yards and 1 TD.
WR Hakeem Nicks – Nicks manned up after getting hit hard in this game. He finished with 87 yards.
S Chad Jones – Jones was on the sidelines with his teammates and could not stop smiling. Chad was in an auto accident shortly after the draft and hasn’t played yet. We’ve got nothing but love for Chad!
DE Justin Tuck – Tuck was very active in this game but could not get to the quarterback. He finished third in tackles.
TE Jake Ballard – Ballard had another productive game and is playing on an elite level this year. He finished with 47 yards.
S Antrel Rolle – Rolle was making plays all over the field and finished second on the team in tackles.
CB Prince Amukamara – Prince is a good luck charm I think. He recovered a fumble early in the game making it back to back games with turnovers for the rookie CB.
DE Osi Umenyiora – Osi had a quiet night and hurt his ankle. He left the game and did not play in the second half. Get well soon Osi!
WR Mario Manningham – Super Mario missed this game due to a knee injury. Get well soon Mario!
DE Jason Pierre-Paul – JPP led the entire defense in tackles and was playing hard out there. I love this guy!
LB Greg Jones – Jones was in the mix out there and making plays. The ‘Fresh Three’ or Freshman three rookie LB’s are playing good football.
WR Victor Cruz – Cruz is an elite NFL WR. How do I know this? The numbers don’t lie. Cruz finished with 157 yards and 2 TD’s.
S Kenny Phillips – Phillips will no doubt get fined for a brutal hit he made on TE Jimmy Graham. That hurt just watching it.
LB Jacquian Williams – Williams had a good game and I have to remind myself that he is a rookie sometimes with the way he plays.
RB DJ Ware – Ware was out there blocking and contributing. He finished with 23 yards.
CB Aaron Ross – Ross had a good game but also missed some plays out there. He wasn’t alone in his sub par play however.
LB Mark Herzlich – This rookie LB plays like an African Lion on Animal Planet. I mentioned that on twitter last night. Fun to watch.
OT William Beatty – The Giants will be without the starting left tackle for up to a month or so. Get well soon William!
RB Da’Rel Scott – The rookie RB fumbled and turned the ball over. I love the guy and know he will be a huge asset for the Giants down the road.
CB Michael Coe – Coe was lost for the season and has been placed on the IR list. Get well soon Mike!
LB Michael Boley – Giants defensive leader Boley, will miss more time and is already sorely missed by the team. Get well soon Mike!
P Steve Weatherford – Say what you want, we lost by 25 points, I like that Weatherford has enough heart to run if his number is called on a fake punt. He also been solid with punting.
K Lawrence Tynes – Tynes went 1/2 on FG attempts for the night and made all 3 of his extra point attempts.
Giants Offense – I think the Giants offense did their job. Turnovers cost them points but they were moving the ball.
Giants Defense – This was probably the worst performance I’ve seen from this group all year in every aspect. I’m glad it is out of the way now. They finished with 0 sacks, 0 INT’s and 0 forced fumbles.
Giants Special Teams – Still, the achilles heel of the Giants and three headed monster of all NFL teams, Offense, Defense and Special teams.
What did you think of the Giants performance against the Saints on Monday Night Football?

NEW YORK – Hello Giants fans, I would like to wish you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving! I would also like to wish the players, staff and coaches a very Happy Thanksgiving and their families as well. This includes Kate Mara (follow back @nygreporter or have your agent email me, I want to interview you) and both the Mara and Tisch family owners. I would like to thank all of you for the classy way you conduct business and for the entertainment you have given my family for generations. I still firmly believe the Giants will be back in the playoffs this year.
I hope all of you can think of something to be thankful for this holiday season. I have heard a saying that goes “You buy the ticket, you take the ride”. It means no complaining, you take the ride of life and one thing leads to another and based on your choices, an outcome blossoms. Today is the perfect day to call an old friend or family member you haven’t spoken to in a while. Have them pass the phone around the room and catch up with everyone. Some of you can’t be home for the holidays, I have been there myself once or twice. Keep your head up and maybe things will be different next year. To the military stationed all over the world, you are not forgotten. Thank you for your service for your country. I hope all of you have some peace this year and get to enjoy yourselves a bit. If you see someone in uniform, stop them and shake their hand.
The Giants play the Saints and QB Drew Brees on Monday Night Football. This is going to be a very difficult game to win but knowing the G-Men, they could end up blowing them out by 25 points. I believe the Giants can beat anyone but the Saints and Packers were clearly the top two teams we had to play all year. The first of the two is about to go down on Monday night. The Giants must stop Saints TE Jimmy Graham (force the Saints to use a TE as blocker in defensive scheme), RB Darren Sproles and the defensive ends must get to Brees often. QB Eli Manning must have one of his standard big games to get Big Blue that seventh win of the year. Be safe and be smart, drink responsibly.
Turkey Day NFL Games/Times/Stations
12:30 PM EST – Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions on FOX Sports.
4:15 PM EST – Miami Dolphins at Dallas Cowboys on CBS Sports.
8:20 PM EST – San Francisco 49ers at Baltimore Ravens on NFL Network (Boo!)
Monday Night Football
8:30 PM EST – New York Giants vs. New Orleans Saints on ESPN.
What is your all time favorite Thanksgiving family tradition? What is your traditional meal?
– The traditional Thanksgiving day meal in my family has always been turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn, peas, carrots, cranberry sauce, apple sauce, biscuits, brown gravy, pie, beer and wine.

NEW YORK – The Giants played host to the Eagles on Sunday Night Football in part two of their annual clash. The “Dream Team” was 3-6 and almost mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. That was the reality of their situation until they beat the Giants 17-10 and improved to 4-6 on the year. Both teams were missing key players like NYG-RB Bradshaw, NYG-LB Boley, PHI-QB Vick and PHI-WR Maclin who were all ruled out prior to game) and did the best they could depth wise. Another handful of Giants players left the game, like RB DJ Ware who left with a concussion and OL Chris Snee who needed an early IV. In one of the rare times that my final score prediction is way off, I’ll admit I was completely wrong when I said the final score would be Giants 38 – Eagles 21 with the G-Men winning by 15.
These two teams had a brawl last night. QB Eli Manning was one of the many players who got roughed up more then once and players had to stay on their toes or get stomped. These teams were fighting hard out there and literal fights were breaking out on the field all night. DeSean Jackson is a classless rube who doesn’t seem to realize that video of his actions will remain forever. The fact that he continues to be so immature is not only pitiful, it also hurts his team. Watching the game last night is the closest thing to a sad opera (the Luciano Pavarotti kind, not the soap kind) that I can think of. The G-men are missing players and more are going down out there, all while they try but cannot seem to move the ball very well. The running game was atrocious most of the game and wide receivers could not seem to pull down sure catches bouncing off their hands. Hey, everyone misses catches sometimes but the problem with this group of misses, is the timing. All of them happening at once like that feels overwhelming. All of this leading up to the grand finale of losing the game.
The Eagles took a 10-3 lead into the locker room at halftime and came out feeling more motivated then when they went inside. And although everyone was sure a 4th quarter comeback would be pulled off by QB Eli Manning, far too many penalties (5/39), sacks (3) and turnovers (2) made sure that would never happen. The second half played out like watching paint dry. Slow and sloppy play made me feel like I was in an episode of the Twilight Zone. The game ended with Giants stadium mostly silent and fans upset after back to back losses.
Let’s take a look at some of my notes from the game.
QB Eli Manning – Manning did everything he could to try and win this game. There were a lot of dropped passes and he finished with 264 yards 1 TD and 1 INT.
RB Brandon Jacobs – Jacobs was trying to run hard but the Eagles employed a swarm policy on Brandon. He finished with 21 yards 0 TD’s.
WR Hakeem Nicks – Nicks had a good game and finished with 69 yards, Not bad considering who was covering him.
DE Osi Umenyiora – Osi told the press he will see Eagles RB LeSean McCoy on the field in regards to some preseason trash talk. There is no doubt that McCoy is hurting today.
CB Prince Amukamara – The rookie CB finally made his debut and did not disappoint finishing 2nd on the team in tackles and grabbing 1 INT. Congrats Prince!
LB Mathias Kiwanuka – Kiwi went beast on the Eagles and had his best game of the year. He led all tacklers on defense.
DE Justin Tuck – Tuck was battling all night and had a good game. He put some serious pressure on QB Vince Young.
DT Chris Canty – ‘The Thing’ as I like to call him, Canty had a good game. He has played well in the past two or three games in a row now.
WR Mario Manningham – Super Mario had a very quiet night, finishing with one catch for four yards.
S Antrel Rolle – The final stats don’t show it but Rolle was making some serious plays out there.
LB Jacquian Williams – The rookie LB had another solid game. I am very impressed with this young man.
WR Victor Cruz – The red hot NJ native finished first on the team in receiving with 128 yards and 1 TD. Vic is for real.
DE Jason Pierre-Paul – JPP looked absolutely slaphappy at times out there while creating havoc for the Eagles offensive line. He also had 1 sack.
TE Jake Ballard – Ballard had a very quiet game and finished with 13 yards 0 TD’s.
CB Aaron Ross – Ross continues to make INT’s by getting another against the Eagles. He has tied his career high (4) for INT’s in a season.
S Kenny Phillips – Phillips says don’t forget about me, grabbing 1 INT of his own. Phillips is really playing on another level this year.
LB Mark Herzlich – Mark had a good debut game and was fired up for getting the start. He has a good football sense and seems to always be around the ball.
S Deon Grant – Grant is a fan favorite now. He had another solid game and brought some toughness to each play. Let him retire a Giant one day.
RB Ahmad Bradshaw – Bradshaw missed another game this week with a bad wheel but could be back in time for the Saints game. The Giants need AB bad.
LB Michael Boley – Mike was injured during the 49ers game and had to miss this week versus the Eagles. The G-Men really need Boley back ASAP.
P Steve Weatherford – Giants fans have fallen completely in love with the Weatherman (I’m Ron Burgundy voice) and calling him MVP over the web.
K Lawrence Tynes – Tynes continued his mediocre season by kicking 1 FG and 1 extra point. Still, he is making his kicks.
Giants Offense – The Giants offense did all it could with the players they had. They really miss RB Ahmad Bradshaw in New York and him back soon.
Giants Defense – Even with getting all of the turnovers, the Giants defense allowed QB Vince Young to look like the college Vince Young, not the NFL Vince Young. They lose a heartbreaker and hard fought game.
Giants Special Teams – It’s time to look for a 10 year kicker and All Pro return man. Keep Weatherford permanently. SMH!
What did you think of the Giants performance against the Eagles? Will the G-Men win the NFC East?

NEW YORK – Hello Giants fans, I would hate myself down the road if I didn’t write something about QB Eli Manning and Victor Cruz, right now. The numbers simply don’t lie. Manning is an elite NFL QB, period. Add to that, WR Victor Cruz is emerging as an elite NFL WR in his own right. I won’t use words like staggering or gargantuan (I so very rarely get to use that word in a sentence, thanks QT) but I will say that both Manning and Cruz have been steady and strong, quietly climbing up the rankings and everyone can see it now. They have proven to be resilient, just like this 2011 Giants team.
Let me give you a breakdown of Cruz, look at what he has done this year versus established and elite NFL WR’s. The passing game is going so well that the running game has suffered a bit.
Giants WR Victor Cruz is ranked 8th in the NFL for receiving yards. Who are some of the elite players at WR that are below Cruz? Well let’s see, there is WR Roddy White, WR Reggie Wayne, WR Dwayne Bowe, WR Vincent Jackson, WR Marques Colston, WR Anquan Boldin, WR DeSean Jackson and the list goes on and on, including a guy you may know named Hakeem Nicks. He is also tied for 5th place in the NFL for most WR TD’s (4). You have to remember that Cruz is doing this from a No.2 or No.3 WR position. Those other WR’s mentioned are No.1 WR’s including Nicks, who is the Giants No.1 WR. I would be lying if I said that I didn’t see this coming because I did. I noticed Cruz immediately in training camp WR Victor Cruz, No.80 – photographs This was in 2010 up at the University of Albany. The New Jersey native just had something, he was out there catching everything and making plays. I have been watching Cruz from that moment until now.
He is playing so well, that he has become relevant in fantasy football. Now that is really saying something and a testament to quality performances on the field. On top of everything, he is a great guy off the field. What more could you ask for from a young and talented wide receiver? Hate it or love it, Victor Cruz is playing on an elite level right now. The numbers don’t lie and he should be voted into the Pro Bowl. I can’t wait to see what he does against the Eagles on Sunday night.
Cruz was at Juliet Supper Club in New York this week when a shooting occurred and killed one man in the place. Cruz was with a few other Giants players celebrating a birthday (no Giants were injured). I think that put things in perspective for him about going out and seeing how your life can change in a moment. Look at WR Plaxico Burress as a perfect example. Right or wrong, Burress went to jail for a few years and that’s the way that story ends. The wrong place at the wrong time can even get you killed. Players cannot stop living their lives over these occurrences but it should keep them on their toes and making smart choices.
QB Eli Manning won’t win the NFL MVP like I’ve said before, Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers seems a lock for that this year. But Manning does belong in the Pro Bowl and I hope that puts the story to bed. Do another Top 100 player list and see where Manning is ranked this year. He is playing very smart football right now and players like WR Victor Cruz and TE Jake Ballard are benefitting from his evolution. WR Hakeem Nicks and WR Mario Manningham are two more dangerous weapons that Manning has in the mix. The Iron man is simply phenomenal and I’m glad he is our quarterback. You can tell by this TV promo for NBC Sunday Night Football (11/20/11 at 8:20 PM EST) that Giants QB Eli Manning is not playing around this year and has grown into a man who commands respect. The Giants play the Eagles in what should be a classic divisional battle, between two teams that really dislike each other. Get ready for some action Sunday Night!

NEW YORK – Giants Pro Bowl DE Justin Tuck will be holding his ‘Old Spice Justin Tuck Football Camp’ in Mahwah, New Jersey. The dates have yet to be determined but more info on that will follow. The camp is held for kids ages 7-14. It is an all day unique experience that comes with a few goodies. The kids should truly have a great time and walk away with some valuable football knowledge. The cost is $149.00 per kid, which isn’t too bad for a two day camp with a Giants Pro Bowl defensive end. Campers will be placed on teams according to their age. Kids will be at different stations doing physical skills, drills and plays.
Tri-state area kids have a chance at attending a Justin Tuck camp locally and leaving with some parting gifts. If it happens to rain on that day, kids will be taken to a nearby indoor facility. The rest of what kids get for attending is a camp t-shirt, autographed team photo, seven hours of instruction, prizes and gifts and a great experience hanging out with Justin. Jim Stoll is the program director and in charge of running camps for many pro athletes.
There are a few suggestions I have for the Justin Tuck ProCamp, check this out Justin. I would include an individual photo with Justin, in addition to the team photo autographed. A photo with the parents paying for the camp would be nice to. From what I know of Justin, he probably already does most of this already but just doesn’t list it. I would set up a weight bench and have Justin demonstrate his NFL strength to the kids. Showing them proper workout technique, workout safety and importance of not pushing it too hard, too early. Also add a loose curriculum of the days activities on his page for parents to browse.
I sent a 10 question interview to the ProCamps coordinator to get to Justin, he will be our first defensive player interview ever, after two offensive players in a row, Rodney Hampton Interview 4/2/11, nygreporter Edition 0002, Steve Smith Interview 3/6/11, nygreporter Edition 0001. A true Thanksgiving present indeed. Get back to us Justin!
I hope all of our readers will check this out or pass it along to a true blue Giants fan. You can also see a video when you visit the link to Justin Tucks ProCamp site.
SIDE NOTE: There haven’t been any available dates released yet for Justin Tuck ProCamps. Be sure to come back and check for more information as updates are confirmed about available dates!

NEW YORK – On behalf of the nygreporter, I would like to say Happy Veteran’s Day to our readers, Giants fans and our military stationed all over the world. Thank you for your service and sacrifice for this country and may God bless you always. It is an honor to write this article for the warriors who continue to fight for our country and remembering those who have fallen in battle. Coming from a military family, it is easy to see why I have such a high respect for our troops and soldiers. I hope you will all take a moment to say a little prayer for the veterans who protect this nation each and every day and for the fallen. If you see someone in the military today, stop them and shake their hand and thank them for all they do. You are not forgotten!
Another person who has done tremendous things for our military is Giants head coach Tom Coughlin. Coach Coughlin seems to be involved in at least one project every year that is military related, he has also flown overseas to spend some time with the troops. The Giants won’t be flying overseas this weekend but they will be flying across the country when the visit San Francisco on Sunday to have a battle of their own. I expect this is be a very good game between two teams that are riding high early on this year. I don’t think there are many fans who are taking this game lightly, the Giants are going to need some of that old school, tough football on the field to walk away with the victory.
The Giants might have a tough time running the ball but the way Manning has been playing lately, it might not effect the outcome of the game. Last weekend, I thought fans would see a shoot out between Brady and Manning and for the most part, it didn’t happen. This week, I expect a defensive battle to occur. We will have to wait and see if that prediction comes to fruition. Then we have the news about 49ers star RB Frank Gore who might not play, that would be a welcome advantage to Big Blue, since Gore is a stud and can run for a ton of yards. That might also balance out the loss of Giants RB Ahmad Bradshaw, if he can’t play on Sunday. WR Hakeem Nicks is also questionable for Sunday. Either way, I expect both ground games to suffer and this game to be won using the air. I predict a Giants win 17-13.
I would like to say, God Bless & Thank You to our military once again! R.I.P. Uncle John, U.S. Army.
How do you plan on honoring the military on Veteran’s Day? Do you think the G-Men will beat the 49ers on Sunday?

NEW YORK – The Giants have been winning games lately and I noticed that they have already won 3 out of 4 on the road. The will play in road game number 5 on Sunday against the 49ers. If they win that game, could we be looking at the Road Warriors Part 2 here? They have also won 3 out of 4 home games. Winning more on the road and having your Christmas Eve game against the Jets away (still played at MetLife stadium), the G-Men could go for 6 or 7 wins on the road this year. The last 3 road game will be against tough opponents. They will face the New Orleans Saints, Dallas Cowboys and New York Jets Jets on the road after playing the 49ers in San Francisco this Sunday. If the Giants win in Frisco, they will be 4-1 on the road and I think they would finish by beating the Cowboys and Jets. The Packers are the biggest test of the entire schedule though and that is a home game at MetLife stadium.
Why am I bringing all of this up? Because of the obvious similarities to the 2007 team, that fans have been comparing the 2011 team to for weeks. The ‘Road Warriors’ nickname was bestowed on them in 2007 by the fans and media. I try not to buy into that too much because I don’t want to throw any bad karma on what’s happening this year. I am very excited to see them play the 49ers this Sunday and think a win there would really make their playoff chances shoot up exponentially. Is it too early in the season, at week ten, to start wondering about a possible playoff game from the G-Men this season? I certainly hope so after missing the playoffs for the past two years in a row. Last year was a joke. How the Giants did not get into the playoffs with a 10-6 record shows the flaws in the system. Coach Coughlin said you can kiss his butt if you don’t like it. He said that 10-6 is a winning season and a good record. I agree with him. The 2011 season is a different story and looks very promising. If the Giants beat the 49ers, then to be true to myself, it makes me think the Giants are almost a lock to get to the playoffs. It would take a historical collapse or something for them to miss the playoffs in 2011.
Let’s get something straight, QB Eli Manning is an ELITE Super Bowl Champion, Super Bowl MVP, Pro Bowl player, Road Warrior and franchise quarterback who happens to be an Iron Man in the game of NFL football. Give him the respect he has earned. If Manning does not get voted into the Pro Bowl this year, I will know the game is rigged. By the way, fan voting has already started at NFL.com. He is playing out of his mind this year and deserves these few words of acknowledgment for what he has built this year. He is also the team MVP for the year in my opinion. Manning continues to prove the doubters wrong and play the game on his own terms. He is a great leader on the field and a role model for kids off the field. What more can you ask of a quarterback for an NFL team?
Speaking of the Pro Bowl, if I had to guess, I can see a bunch of Giants players that deserve to go to Honolulu. Players like QB Eli Manning, OL Chris Snee, WR Hakeem Nicks, WR Victor Cruz, TE Jake Ballard, DE Osi Umenyiora, DE Jason Pierre-Paul, LB Michael Boley, S Antrel Rolle, P Steve Weatherford. How many of these guys get in will be revealed down the road. I say at least four or five of these guys will be in Hawaii. I think everyone can agree the 2011 NFL MVP will most likely be Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers will be in Hawaii and Manning deserves to be there too. As of this date and halfway point of the 2011 season, QB Eli Manning has thrown for 2,377 yards 15 TD’s 6 INT’s.
How many of the 3 road games (Saints, Cowboys and Jets) left to play this year will the Giants win? How do the Giants playoff chances look mid-way through the year?

NEW YORK – The New York Giants are 6-2 and in first place of the NFC East. Things could not be going any better for them at this point in the year, they are coming off an emotional win against the New England Patriots and facing the elite teams on their 2011 NFL schedule during the next few weeks. I am very pleased to see them winning games. They are winning games even when they are not playing very well or fielding their best players. I have tremendous confidence in the G-men and most of our readers could confirm that fact. But even I thought the Giants would be having a much tougher time then they seem to be having. I never lost faith but was very concerned about the depleted squad. The Giants have made believers out of everyone, including the haters.
Some of the football “experts” will say the Giants haven’t played any elite teams yet or the level of competition has been subpar. My message for those people is to just be quiet, take a look at every single NFL team schedule and you will see a balance of good and bad teams. People need to start giving the Giants credit for what they have done with a completely decimated roster. I’m sick of the New York bashing that fans have to endure with these television programs, who give too much personal opinion and not enough factual accounts of the events that take place. Even the haters out there cannot deny the fact that Big Blue is in first place and cruising through their schedule. I’m not being egocentric but simply stating the facts of the Giants current situation. It was nice to see Archie Manning come out and voice his displeasure with the Joe Buck and Troy Aikman FOX Sports pairing, that can’t seem to help bashing the Giants at every possible opportunity. Fans have been extremely vocal about their displeasure with this situation and Papa Manning validated what we were all thinking.
I am here to report that the state of the New York Giants is strong heading into week 10. The Giants have four difficult opponents coming up starting with the revamped 49ers this weekend. This is a game that Big Blue can absolutely win. The 49ers have a very good defense but so do the Giants. If it comes down to the quarterbacks having to win the game, which I think it will, I’d take Eli Manning and wouldn’t look back. I’m not taking San Francisco lightly because they are a good football team but I still think the Giants “shock and awe” road tour will continue with another victory. My final score prediction is Giants 19 – 49ers 13.
What are your thoughts about the Giants performance at the halfway point of the 2011 season?
Side Note: I would like to say RIP to a boxing legend, Joe Frazier. One of the greatest boxing champions in history!

NEW YORK – The Giants have compiled a respectable 5-2 record so far this year and sit in first place in the NFC East. Some are very surprised by this fact because the G-men have been playing sub-par football during the first half of the year. I mean no disrespect to Big Blue by saying that, it is simply a fact for fans to see on television each week. True Giants fans know the team can play much better then they have been thus far. The Giants will need to step their game up on Sunday when they play the red hot New England Patriots in the Boston area. The Patriots will forever have a bad taste in their mouths for the Giants because New York beat them thoroughly in Super Bowl XLII. They will play extra hard versus the G-Men every single time they do battle because New York ruined their perfect season. The phrase “18-1” has become synonymous with choking big time in the sports world.
This is without a doubt the toughest game of the year so far for Big Blue. This will be a game in which everyone expects the Pats to win by a couple of touchdowns. I think those football “experts” will be surprised when they see an offensive shoot out going back and forth. I have less confidence in the Giants defense (I haven’t said that in years) then I do in the offense. Still, the offense had some key players get banged up against the Dolphins including RB Ahmad Bradshaw and WR Hakeem Nicks. Another issue could be the fact that RB Brandon Jacobs didn’t do much when he got back on the field and it makes you wonder if he is fully healthy yet. The Giants will need all of their weapons on the field to give the Pats a real run for their money. Something else the fans are pondering about is the debut of rookie CB Prince Amukamara, will it be this weekend? QB Eli Manning is an elite NFL QB, so I’m not concerned about him one bit and never was. All of you sports “experts” are awfully quiet now that Easy Eli is balling on a top 5 QB level. Man up and admit you were wrong or lose credibility.
The Giants defensive backs will be the deciding factor in this game. There is no doubt in my mind that the Giants defensive ends can get to QB Tom Brady early and often. CB Corey Webster and CB Aaron Ross will need to bring their A-game on Sunday and hold down the backfield. Safeties Kenny Phillips and Antrel Rolle will also be held accountable and must prevent giving up the huge plays opposing offenses have enjoyed this season. The Patriots utilize their TE’s more then most NFL teams, so it isn’t just the WR’s the G-Men need to worry about. If the Giants DB’s do their job and the running game can get it going, I truly think the Giants can squeak out a victory by 1-3 points in a close game. I’ll predict a final score of 35-33 with the Giants win.
What do you expect from the Giants this weekend versus the Patriots?

NEW YORK – On behalf of the nygreporter, I would like to wish everyone a Happy Halloween. I hope that everyone has a great time and enjoys this spooky holiday. All of you kids be sure to have your parents check your candy before you eat it and be safe out there trick or treating tonight! In the old days, we went out in groups of kids with usually only one or two parents there watching us. I’m sure things are different now but all of you kids better have a parent with you while trick or treating. DO NOT go out by yourself and be careful scaring the older folks.
The Giants pulled out the win yesterday against Miami in a very sloppy game. They improve to 5-2 on the year and the second best thing to happen yesterday was the Eagles beating the Cowboys and knocking each other into mediocrity. The Cowboys, Eagles and Redskins are all tied with 3-4 records. I’m sure this could change rather quickly but for now the G-men are sitting pretty with a two game lead in the NFC East. Most fans are dumbfounded by this but will take it anyway. The really hard part of the schedule begins now with the Patriots coming up next Sunday (11/6/11 at 4:15 PM EST) in New England. The Giants better get their act together before this weekend in order to have a shot at competing with QB Tom Brady and the tough Pats at home.
The Giants played like zombies yesterday but still got the win. Ultimately, I realize that’s the only thing that matters but fans still have a right to be concerned. Big Blue seems to be playing from behind in most games this year and it would be nice to see them blow out a team or two before the year ends. Especially, these teams that are on the bottom of the NFL food chain. If they can win five of their last nine games, they have a god chance at making it back to the playoffs. They have missed the playoffs for the past two years and must want to break that cycle as much as the fans do. They could not have started the year any better in their efforts to do just that. And by the way, QB Eli Manning is playing at an elite level this year, where are the sports media “experts” now admitting they were wrong? They are invisible like ghosts in a dark room.
What are your plans for this Halloween? Boo!
