The New York Giants have re-signed WR Sinorice Moss to a one year deal. I have been extremely vocal about my feelings of Moss. I am in awe as to how Moss is still on the team. Not unlike the Danny Ware situation, I am having a difficult time trying to justify either of them getting re-signed. Of course, I am not privy to the same information as the front office but just looking at both of their career numbers speaks volumes. This will be Sinorice Moss’ final year with the Giants, if he still doesn’t show the team or fans anything, then he should pull a Javon Walker and give back the money. There are only so many spots open on the roster and I have a hard time with the Moss subject when it comes up.
You may not believe what I’m about to share with you (if you don’t, look it up) but here are Sinorice Moss’ career numbers since the Giants drafted him. Moss has exactly 39 receptions for 421 yards and 3 TD’s. He has five years of NFL experience and a ton of injury time. I understand that players get injured and that things happen but this is amazing to me. You have to wonder if he has a cousin working in the human resources department or something at this point. I have nothing against the guy personally but we all have to justify ourselves in the workplace and measuring him with that scale tells me he should be fired.

Here we are on day two of the “Seven Rounds in Seven Days” segment. We will be examining the past six years of drafts by round. A different set of rounds everyday for seven days. The legendary Ernie Accorsi will be compared to the young buck (I say that with respect) Jerry Reese. The 2010 NFL Draft is now exactly one week away. What will the Giants do? Could they still grab a player via free agency? Will there be a major trade announced? It’s beginning to get very interesting, the closer we get to draft day.
Now, let’s take a look at the New York Giants round six picks for the past six years.

After taking a look at the history above, I think it is fair to say that round six is a push between these two legends. OT Adam Koets is the only player out of them all that may have any promise of making a living in New York. Robert Henderson would fall to second on the list if I had to choose. It is nothing against the other players that the G-men drafted, it’s just the nature of the business to be somewhat judgmental. The one pattern that I am picking up on thus far, is that Ernie Acorsi seems to be missing picks quite a bit. No doubt from wheeling and dealing but I find it interesting that while Accorsi has given up a pick in each round so far, Reese continues to be stingy with his draft picks and has retained them all. Both of these men are experts at what they do and trying to figure out which system is best is ludicrous. A blend of both styles might be the best thing for New York.

The 2010 NFL Draft is a mere 8 days away now and will be held on Thursday 4-22-10. I thought we could do something interesting leading up to the 2010 NFL Draft. I plan on writing about a different round every day for the next seven days, leading us right up to two days before the 2010 draft on Tuesday 4-20-10.
What I am going to do is take the last three drafts, all of which were done by Jerry Reese, and the last three drafts before that, done by Ernie Accorsi and compare them. That means we are taking a look back at the previous six draft years. I think you will find it very interesting how well these two men stack up with their drafting prowess. You will be getting three actual draft results each, from Jerry Reese and Ernie Accorsi, plus my position predictions by round, for the 2010 Draft. We will use a countdown style beginning with the number seven and ending with the number one.
On Wednesday 4-21-10, NYGReporter will do our “The Day Before: The 2010 Draft” segment and then LIVE coverage throughout the three day draft weekend.
So without any more delay, let’s take a look at how Jerry Reese and Ernie Accorsi drafted in round seven for the past six years.

Based on the information and history we have to examine, I would have to give the round seven edge to Jerry Reese for grabbing Ahmad Bradshaw in the seventh round. He also got Michael Johnson in the very same round and draft. Ahmad Bradshaw and Michael Johnson are the only two, round seven picks, that have remained on the team since 2004. Plus, Reese was able to hold onto all of his draft picks.
What do you think about the round seven comparisons? Did Jerry Reese win this round in your mind as well? Even though this isn’t a competition between two guys that we all love, it’s still fun to compare. I’m just trying to put an interesting twist on some pre-draft analysis.

As of April 12, 2010, the NYG Reporter fully supports and promotes the American Red Cross on our website. You can find a link to the site on the right side bottom. I have personally done volunteer work for the Red Cross during the 2005 hurricane season (Wilma) in South Florida and another time in the late 1990’s. I know what it feels like to have no power, electricity or water for two weeks. Disaster relief and preparedness are things that no one generally thinks about until it’s too late. I would urge all Americans to have a proper kit ready for all disaster type situations. One of our community leaders Saulo Padua, who is practicing law in Brazil, just recently experienced first hand what the devastating storms can do. Brazil was hit very hard last week. Hopefully, Saulo can leave a comment here and tell us a little about what he has seen there. The Red Cross was founded in 1881 and has been helping with disaster relief for 129 years.
It doesn’t take much to contribute to the American Red Cross. The socialvibe company has made it even more simple to donate some time to them. If you click the American Red Cross banner on the bottom right hand side of the screen, it shows you that all you need to do, is spend some time (literally) looking around as a donation. It’s very simple and shows a “counter” with exactly how many minutes are being donated by those browsing. Everyone who checks out the American Red Cross from the NYG Reporter site will counted but not named, with respect to our community privacy policy. We will select a new charity to support every three months. It doesn’t mean we longer support the previously posted charity, it just means we are giving some other charities a chance to be promoted. We will settle on four charities to support and promote them seasonally. The American Red Cross is the first to be chosen but not the last.
I urge all parents and people alike, to take the time to make a disaster preparedness plan. Every home should have a small bag with the following items in it. Keep this bag in a place where you know it will always be ready to go if something should happen. Going over a “what to do if…” scenario with children and spouses. It takes one night of sitting and talking. Having the bag ready to go, takes a lot of thinking out of the process when trying getting back to normal. The thing with a disaster is you never really know what you are going to need, until you need it.

Once upon a time, the New York Giants had the number one running attack in the NFL. A lot of those same players are still on the team. They were banged up in 2009 but have rehabbed nicely and are preparing now for the upcoming season. Brandon Jacobs is the number one guy on the team. He is backed up by Ahmad Bradshaw, who is often the spark that lifts the Giants offense in crucial moments. Brandon is the bull and Bradshaw is the lightning. RB Andre Brown, who missed his entire rookie season to an injury, is said to be coming along nicely and should play in 2010. Gartrell Johnson ran hard with the limited game time I saw. I believe that Brandon and Bradshaw will get their groove back in 2010. I think they are going to be owed a lot of apologies when it’s all over. Opinions have varied greatly on this topic alone, what do you think?
Jacobs and Bradshaw played injured for most of the 2009 season. They were not used properly in a lot of strange situations but still tried to finish out the year. I expect a rested Bradshaw to have an outstanding 2010 season. A lot of noise has been made recently about the Giants possibly drafting RB CJ Spiller in round one. I would not be upset if this did occur because Spiller is a great talent and I don’t know if GM Jerry Reese passes on this kid for LB Rolando McClain if he’s available. If the Giants draft a RB that almost certain means that RB Gartrell Johnson will be cut shortly thereafter.

The ability to rush the passer is a very important thing. This is a philosophy the Giants have been following for a very long time. Surprisingly, the New York Giants have five defensive ends on the roster. Osi Umenyiora and Justin Tuck will no doubt get the starting roles. Both of them deserve to be the starters but Mathias Kiwanuka is no pushover. Kiwi could be a starter on many NFL teams right now. Having him as a quality backup is a luxury most teams cannot afford. Tuck and Osi will be a force in the NFL this year. I think Osi will be saying “Don’t call it a come back” and Tuck will be fully healthy and creating havoc. Throwing Kiwi in the mix and Clint Sintim on situational plays makes them even more dangerous. I am looking for a faster and stronger defensive unit in 2010.
I was surprised to see only five true defensive ends available on the roster. Chris Canty is a hybrid and Clint Sintim can draw down when need be but I expect this to be an area the team addresses in the draft. I would say in the middle rounds. There are a lot of guys with chips on their shoulders this year, which makes them all the more dangerous. I expect this Giants defense to make it back into the top five defenses in the NFL and the DE position will have a lot to do with making that happening.

If there is one thing that I am absolutely positive of this upcoming 2010 NFL season, it is that Eli Manning is the starting QB of the New York Giants. Manning has an Iron Man streak going and has proven to be tough when the moment arises that he need be. Eli Manning is on track to have another career year if his numbers continue to improve as they have. Losing a backup quarterback with the talent of David Carr will be difficult to replace. I think Carr might be wondering if he made the right choice now by going to the 49ers. I expect Eli Manning to be voted into the Pro Bowl in 2010 based upon another career year. Eli will need to take WR Steve Smith and WR Hakeem “Octopus Hands” Nicks out for a steak dinner by the end of the season (gold watches might even be involved).
Retaining backup QB Jim Sorgi from the Colts was a nice thing. Eli Manning now has the study partner of his dreams and can be counted on to know his material/plan before a game. The New York Giants need a reliable backup Qb who can win games. Who is available to bring on board in case QB Rhett Bomar doesn’t work out? GM Jerry Reese will not allow the QB position to be an area of concern for Giants fans.
What do you think about the current New York Giants Quarterback situation? Is this an area that could be addressed via free agency or will Reese use a late round pick on a QB again? If so, who can you see the G-Men taking a late round QB sleeper on?

This is an area that I feel compelled to discuss. if you take a look at the Official site of the New York Giants, click on the roster tab and investigate, you will find that the Giants have only 4 total players to cover both the Center and Guard positions. This is an area I can see going as high as the number two pick and even a number one spot would not surprise me. I still think the Giants will draft a MLB with the number one pick but if not that, then why not go offensive lineman? It makes sense to bolster this group for Eli manning and the running attack. I have to admit that I had become a bit spoiled with not worrying about the offensive line for so long. This is one of the greatest group of OL guys in Giants history.
Shaun O’Hara is still playing at a high level and drafting a Center in the 2010 NFL Draft would be more of an insurance pick. Someone that can be groomed under O’Hara’s tutelage. The team is going to have to consider the future in this draft without question. There is an injection of youth in every major area of this team and I expect that trend to go in 2010 at the offensive lineman position. I still have faith in this unit as a whole and think they will be fine for another couple of years.

After taking a look at the roster and seeing the current New York Giants cornerbacks, I am convinced that the team will draft a cornerback in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft. The Giants currently have seven cornerbacks on the roster. It looks like Terrell Thomas and Corey Webster will get the starters roles. Aaron Ross has to return from an injury plagues 2009 season that limited him to very few games. Ross has all-pro potential but now finds himself in a position of having to prove himself again. It will be interesting to see how he responds.
After the starters and immediate backups, it gets a little foggy to me. This leads me to believe it does the same for the coaches and I am confident this will translate into a top three pick in the upcoming 2010 NFL Draft. Bruce Johnson seems to be the best of the remaining bunch and I look for him to have an improved season. I remember Courtney Brown from his draft day and had him targeted as a possible Giants pick that year. He will have to live up to his potential and make a name for himself. The CB area was a major concern during the 2009 season. It was second place, only to the safety position as far as need this year. This is an area that hasn’t fallen off of my radar and I think Jerry Reese will grab a real talent by round three.
New DC Perry Fewell is a defensive back guy. He is going to change things for the Giants and make them a formidable unit for opposing Quarterbacks. The expectations on Fewell this year are pretty high from all of the street chatter I hear. Everyone knows that the DB’s are Perry Fewell’s area of expertise and expect that group to have an overnight improvement.

Hello Giants Fans,
On behalf of the NYG Reporter, I would like to wish you all a very Happy Easter Sunday. This is a time for family to come together every April and enjoy each others company. I hope that you and your families enjoy this day together. This year, Easter is also a reminder that the NFL Draft is now three weeks away. Soon all of the guessing and analyzing will be over and Giants fans will finally know the answers to all of their questions. Will it be LB McClain or LB Weatherspoon? Will it be DT Price or RB Spiller? No matter who the G-men take with the 15th overall pick, you have to like the moves that Jerry Reese has already made. The team wasted no time in addressing the areas of most concern and continue to surprise many by signing players, as early as a couple of days ago. I have faith in Jerry Reese and the staff. I know that they obviously have the teams best interest in mind and will make the right choices, according to the plan, when the time comes. That is still three weeks away, so for today, Happy Easter!

The New York Giants have re-signed WR Sinorice Moss to a one year deal. I have been extremely vocal about my feelings of Moss. I am in awe as to how Moss is still on the team. Not unlike the Danny Ware situation, I am having a difficult time trying to justify either of them getting re-signed. Of course, I am not privy to the same information as the front office but just looking at both of their career numbers speaks volumes. This will be Sinorice Moss’ final year with the Giants, if he still doesn’t show the team or fans anything, then he should pull a Javon Walker and give back the money. There are only so many spots open on the roster and I have a hard time with the Moss subject when it comes up.
